Vermithor ("we," "our," or "the App") is an AI-powered personal memory assistant that helps you rediscover and interact with your life memories through natural conversation. This Privacy Policy explains how Vermithor handles your data. Because Vermithor is designed with privacy as its core principle, this policy is short and straightforward: your photos never leave your device.

2. Data Collection & Storage

2.1 Photos & Media

Vermithor accesses your photos and media only to index and understand them locally. Your photos, videos, and screenshots are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with any external server. All AI processing and indexing happens entirely on your device.

2.2 Index & Metadata

Vermithor creates a local index of your media to enable fast search and understanding. This index — including tags, embeddings, event detection, and relationships — is stored exclusively on your device and is never sent to any server.

2.3 No Account or Personal Information Required

Vermithor does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personal information. We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other identifying information.

3. On-Device Processing

All intelligence in Vermithor — including image understanding, face detection, location tagging, event grouping, and natural language search — runs entirely on your device using on-device AI models. No internet connection is required for these features to function. Your data is never sent to the cloud for processing.

4. Permissions

Vermithor requests the following device permissions:

• Photo Library Access: Required to index and understand your photos and videos. Access is handled with the minimum scope necessary.
• Location (Optional): Used to tag photos with location context (e.g., trip detection). This uses on-device location data and is never transmitted externally.

You can revoke any permission at any time through your device settings. Revoking photo access will limit Vermithor's functionality but will not affect any previously indexed content stored locally.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

Vermithor does not share, sell, rent, or transmit your photos, media, index data, or any personal information to any third party — including advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or cloud services. There are no exceptions to this rule.

6. Analytics & Crash Reports

Vermithor may collect anonymized, non-personal crash reports and usage statistics to improve app stability and performance. This data does not include any photos, media content, search queries, or personally identifiable information. You can opt out of analytics reporting in the app settings at any time.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

All indexed data is stored locally on your device. You have complete control over this data:

• You can delete specific indexed memories at any time from within the app.
• You can clear the entire local index from the app settings.
• Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data permanently.

We do not retain any copy of your data. Since nothing is uploaded to our servers, there is nothing to delete from our side.

8. Security

Since all processing and storage happens on your device, Vermithor's security is fundamentally tied to the security of your device. We recommend using a device passcode and keeping your operating system updated. Vermithor does not introduce any additional network attack surface since no data is transmitted.

9. Children's Privacy

Vermithor is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you become aware that a child under 13 is using the app, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the app after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
